SWEETEST MEMORIES OF THE PAST (Rasamindrakotroka Andry Tiana)

A gentle gaze to days gone by,
to dream more brightly what may be.
The heart is stirred, it heaves a sigh,
touched by the soul's old memory.
As if it happened yesterday,
we see our own, so calm, so near :
shose still alive and on their way,
and those recalled to Heaven’s sphere.

The blessed time of innocence,
when we were children, full of cheer,
we ran with joy and confidence,
on winding paths, with hearts sincere.
At times, we went to run a chore,
with just a scribbled list in hand;
at others, games with nothing more,
made kings of us, or sad we’d stand.

The days flew past, the school bell rang,
and learning knocked upon the door.
With every trial, we slowly sprang,
to strive, to seek, to reach for more.
The early risers, dreamers late,
all chasing what once bore us through.
The steps unsure, the twist of fate,
the fragile goal we held in view.

And time moved on we grew, we changed,
with joy that flowed from labored gain.
Yet life, with winds both free and strange,
gave peace, then storm, then peace again.
Not to destroy, but to refine,
to raise, to mend, to shape anew,
for every path, to be divine,
must bear a stone it must pass through.

True success is not in gold,
but in the strength to rise and pray;
in hands that shape, in hearts that hold,
in every step along the way.
To build a home of truth and grace,
to lift our children’s souls above,
beneath the Father’s watchful face,
and Christ’s eternal, faithful love.
