A WINTER THOUGHT (Rasamindrakotroka Andry Tiana)

(Nalaina tao amin'ny vetso.serasera.org)
The minutes, hours, and the fleeting days,
slip past, entangled in life's endless maze.
The weeks, the months, the years shift and sigh;
each sorrow stirs the soul, each burden nigh.

Legions of sighs rise heavy from the frame,
life’s fickle trials extinguish joy’s bright flame.
Urgent the need for acts both swift and wise,
that yield their fruits in wholly strange surprise.

Communities stand hushed, in silent prayer,
awaiting winds of change to cleanse the air.
Yet on the barren verge no hope is cast;
the sky is grey, the environment changing fast.

Weary of waiting for a better and decent life,
despair weighs down with its relentless strife,
While leaders falter, lost in helpless dreams,
unable to get group out of this broken scheme.

Even if shadows of the past return to mind,
and future paths seem troubled, harsh, unkind.
Hope, as they say, keeps foolish hearts alive,
to dodge the tears when roaring missiles dive.

What path to take, what steps must we pursue,
to grow and still keep all our freedom too:
"To work with all our might" to build this land,
where honor, pride, and survival firmly stand.

It's cold, it's harsh, and winter shows its spite,
it twists like sickness turns sweet honey to bite.
"Even without hope, to fight is still to dream,"
for brighter days ahead, beyond the sorrow's stream.
